About Cairns Kendo Club
Cairns Kendo Club (also known as Goshu Shobukan) is located at Cairns Youth & Recreation Centre, 129 Mulgrave Rd, Westcourt. The club meets under the expert guidance of 7th Dan Sensei, Katsumi Kuramochi. The Cairns Kendo Club presents the perfect opportunity to learn the historic Japanese art of Kendo. Iaido and Jodo are also taught however, it is best to speak with Sensei if you are interested in one of these.
All equipment is provided by the dojo, until one becomes confident enough to purchase their own. Beginners and long-term practitioners alike are welcome to watch or join in. There is no pressure to learn at speed and, unlike some martial arts, the atmosphere, though formal, is relaxed and fun.
Learning martial arts provides a window into ancient history and allows you the opportunity to engage in a physical activity which promotes a healthy lifestyle and boasts a unique, friendly worldwide community.
